In 2013, the Crimson.com reported that only 5.8 per cent or
less than 2,050 out of the 35,023 applicants were admitted in Harvard. The same trend of record-low admissions in
Harvard has been going on for more than 5 years.
Admission rates are likewise down in Princeton and Yale
which are Ivy League schools.
The number of rejections is soaring not only in Ivy League
schools but in other schools as well. In
2008, the Chicago Tribune reported that the University of Chicago accepted only
3,460 applicants out of the 12,400 students.
Make no mistake about it. Going to college has become a very
complicated process. As college admissions
get more competitive, more students will receive the dreaded rejection letters.
